Bright Kicks EP Review:

Bright Kicks - EP - Bright Kicks

Hey, what is it with Manchester coz here's yet another tasty outfit from them there parts and they're bringing their own brand of post-indie rockin'-pop with 'em. Think Chili's and you'll start to see something approaching the Bright Kicks sound and feel!

This aint yer normal indie thing here you know, Bright Kicks have moved things along a bit, added a hint of funkiness and a touch of nu-soul and come up with a vibrant sound that's big, bouncy and as commercial as hell! Certainly you can pick out a few influences. Let's face it, it's becoming ever harder to come up with a sound that doesn't owe its origins to one successful band or another. Bright Kicks have taken their influences and turned them to good use in coming up with a wholly British sound that has global appeal and universal marketing potential.

In just four damn fine tracks Bright Kicks have set out their stall in no uncertain terms; they show what you can do with a bit of phatt funky bass (Greg Kelly), incessant angular guitars (Darryn Clarke) and metronomically precise percussion (David Whitworth). Vocally Bright Kicks kick ass too! Bobby Magee slams his foot to the plate to provide the fourth instrument in Bright Kicks' dynamic armoury. Together these guys lay it down big, bold and amazingly tight as jazzy undercurrents feed the pounding rhythms to bolster the superbly proportioned instrumental onslaught with everything finally fusing into one meaty and pretty hot sound.

As a weapon to lead a promotional attack, this four track work has everything Bright Kicks need to force open many new doors and make some of those 'big cats' stop in their tracks and take notice. This EP is one hell of an introduction to a mighty fine sounding band - faultless, flawless, very professional and nicely appetite whetting!!

Internet Radio...The place to be!
Written by Joe
Monday, 16 June 2008
The following article helps show that us here at Indieliferadio.com and Wildliferadio.com are on the right path. With the shallow playlist and endless commercials of FM radio...and the high cost of subscriptions and insane overhead to operate satellite radio...and the fact that wireless internet access is spreading everywhere and everyday devices such as cell phones and even cars are being made internet capable...internet radio is the future of broadcasting.

SoundExchange Says Internet Radio Continues Growth

June 4, 2008

SoundExchange says that Internet radio business has continued to grow, even with the institution of new royalty rates from the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB). While many claimed the increased rates would hurt webcasters and drive them out of business, SoundExchange claims that has not been the case.

"Clearly, Internet radio has become the place to be for music broadcasters," said John Simson, Executive Director of SoundExchange. "While there still are few who are loudly predicting the demise of Internet radio à la the boy who cried wolf, the on-the-ground reality is saying something quite different. There is a lot of money to be made in Internet radio and royalty rates are not a barrier to developing strong, workable business models."

Simson adds, "What we are seeing in the reporting of playlists is that the diversity of music played is widening. Anybody can play the top hits, but on the Internet where listeners aren’t hemmed in by geography or a limited number of stations, to become a go-to site for music you’ve got to give the listener a different or specialized experience. Because of that, we’re seeing a lot of diversity."

Wild Life Radio Toolbar
Written by D Boucher
Sunday, 06 April 2008

Exciting news from Wild Life Radio first is the elimination of the Internet Radio Module from the website we had too many issues and problems with the multiple players abounding in the world today. We have gone to a java based player that you can grab here on the left hand side on the home page or grab in the chatroom in the upper right click on the word stream.

Second development is the addition of an Wild Life Radio toolbar with a built in listen button and links directly to the chatroom so you may join us from anywhere on the web at anytime.  Also included on the toolbar is a gadgets category with several helpful tools in it as well as a google search built into the bar.

The link to the toolbar is http://wildliferadiotoolbar.ourtoolbar.com/
